The 12 Hour Walk

Possible Mindset – an empowered way of thinking that unlocks a life of limitless possibilities.  – Colin O’Brady

Imagine the advice you would get from an adventurer. What recommendations could you receive from someone that holds multiple world records? Consider what might be said from one who crossed Antarctica alone, rowed across the Drake passage, and even summited Mt. Everest twice. Is there any part of you that would expect to get the advice to…take a walk? A long walk to be sure, but a walk nonetheless

Colin O’Brady survived a tragic accident as a young adult. He overcame that challenge and went on to become a professional athlete that competed across the globe. He also accomplished many achievements that are beyond the imagination of most of us. Yet, in his most recent book, he describes his experience taking a 12-hour walk.

Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time – Steven Wright

The challenge is to unplug and go for an extended 12-hour walk…away from all the distractions we see in everyday life. Also, to move away from what the author describes as limiting beliefs.  These are the lies, excuses, and defense mechanisms that we use to stay safely in our current situation. If we are to live the way we most desire, we must change the way we think and start to truly believe we can have more! O’Brady calls on the reader to identify those dreams that are yet to be accomplished – to identify their own Everest.

Throughout the rest of the book, O’Brady describes and challenges the limiting beliefs that may be holding back the readers from conquering their Mt. Everest. With each chapter, readers will learn about some of his previous obstacles while pursuing challenges such as crossing Antarctica (932 miles) unaided in 54 days. Each obstacle provides learning opportunities and can be the next step toward “Mt. Everest.” Each challenge is part of the journey.

Where do you want to go? What do you want to accomplish? How do you want to spend your days? – Colin O’ Brady
