A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for ― John A. Shedd

In 2020, readers were introduced to Dave Hollis’ first book, Get Out of Your Own Way. A successful Disney executive, Hollis struck out to work with his then wife building a media company that included podcasts, books, and conferences. That book shared many of the challenges that came with the life changes related to leaving a successful corporate job and branching out into the world of entrepreneurship. It also brought to life many of the negative coping mechanisms that Hollis and so many others utilize to manage the stress and inner conflict.

In the months to follow, many would read the social media posts and media articles that told the tale of a marriage that slowly collapsed and a couple that was divorcing in the public eye. Built Through Courage, shares Dave’s experience…which is really just an extension of his previous journey. The journey described sounds very painful and yet not angry…as one might expect. Hollis spends the first half of the book helping readers to understand where they currently are and what that means. We’ve all read books and posts that encourage the reader to never stop trying and to never be satisfied. Yet, as Hollis points out, we can keep moving forward while at the same time appreciating the blessings in our lives.

The second half of this book is all about building and executing a plan for where you are going to go. In the final pages, he asks the question, Will you choose to show up for your life? Readers will be challenged to identify their goals and develop a plan and to take the steps to move forward and not let fear stop them from their heart’s desires. After publishing this book, Hollis had plans for a children’s book based on his relationship with his daughter, Noah. In November of 2022, Here’s to Your Dreams was published.Three months later, Dave Hollis would pass away just two days shy of his 48th birthday. None of us know how much time is left, so now is the time to live the life we have.

Ask yourself: “If I knew that I only had two years left to live, how would I approach my life differently?” – Dave Hollis
